Why study a UCIL course unit?
1. Work with students from all over the University.
As a student studying in a UCIL unit, you will study, collaborate with, and hear the perspectives of students from other disciplines.
Our units may have students in maths, biomedical sciences, arts, film, economics, psychology, and more in a single course!
It was interesting to be in groups with students from different disciplines because you get exposed to a diverse and interesting set of views that you'd never academically be in proximity to.

2. Enhance your degree by studying something outside your subject
Are you interested in AI, aliens, entrepreneurship or philosophy (but not wanting to study it as a full degree)? Then studying a UCIL unit and something different to your degree might be for you!
You can then apply what you've learnt to your own degree, having a perspective and knowledge that not many of your fellow students will have.
It has been invaluable to my development as a student. I have always been passionate about leadership, so being able to learn about the nuances of the topic whilst applying it to real life situations allowed me to gain a wealth of knowledge which I will be able to take with me during the rest of my studies and future career prospects.

3. Stand out from the crowd and boost your employability
Studying a UCIL unit means that you will have:
- Worked alongside students from different disciplines and considered a range of perspectives.
- Communicate your ideas to a diverse group of people.
- Demonstrated that you can step outside your comfort zone, problem-solve, and take on new challenges.
Using what you've learnt and skills you've used in an interview will allow you to stand out in an interview.
Since taking this course, I've become a much more positive, communicable, and confident person, which helped me in securing a role in a marketing company and receiving a promotion as well.
